Making Christmas Gifts - The End

The finished product...

Finally!

Now to make about 20 more of them...

Haha - just kidding, I've already made about 12 and sent some to Mainfreight as christmas gifts.

I'll probably start handing them off to friends now -
here you go, Merry Christmas... go hang it in your toilet or something.

Making Christmas Gifts Part Three

I've finally pulled out the sewing machine, found all the bits and fixed the tension on it...
At least I think the tension is fixed.

One can only hope!

Anyway, this is the cast of characters for my homemade christmas gifts.

Dried flowers, a stocking template, lace and organza.

I saw this really cool idea in a book, christmas stockings filled with potpourri, hanging from a light fitting.

It looked really pretty!

And really easy.

Watch this space...

Slow Down Attempt Number One

The Ultimate Handmade Holidays Master List 2010 « Sew,Mama,Sew! Blog
WHOA!!!

Handmade gift overload!

And so many many things I want to make... I could spend an absolute age browsing this list - and wishing for more fabric.
Sewing Projects in an afternoonSigh.

Time to pull out the sewing machine and look for all it's attachments....

And for those of you who were slightly alarmed by last night's Facebook status, I'm fine, this happens, it's common and a direct result of having far too many 'nesting' ideas and not enough energy.

90-Minute Fabric Fun: 30 Projects You Can Finish in an AfternoonThe Man has expressed concern and I have resolved to start to take it easy. And curb my enthusiasm.
I realise now that plotting another veggie patch and double-digging the garden may not be wise...

But you sit when you sew, right?

Making Christmas Gifts Part Two

Well, this is some of the lavender I lopped off the overgrown bush. It is now hanging in the boys' window.

So far they have slept very well!

As you can see, I'm attempting to dry it.

This clue should set you all on the right track...
I'm also drying some of the petals from the rose explosion of a couple of weeks ago.

Incidentally, guess how long it took me to deadhead all that lot! And I'm still not finished!

And that was all one bush too!

But I felt very very proud of myself when the old ladies walking to and from the store up the road stopped and commented on how 'glorious' they were!
:)

Thanks Pam, for teaching me how to actually do something with roses...

Making Christmas Gifts Part One

The first stage in my cunning plan to make christmas presents...
Can you guess what I'm going to do?
:)

I found the idea in a book.
It actually looked quite stylish!
Wonder if I can recreate it and whether you can guess what it is?
